We think that for our guests it's important to know something about the region, even if we will not bother our web-visitors with a long story as there are so many books about this matter. However we would like to give our impression about the region and highlight our preferred and recommended locations.

Umbria has a limited size. However it boasts 7 natural parks-6 located in the region and one shared with the neighbouring region called Marche. Close to the Piccolo Noce, there is the Regional Park of Trasimeno, created in 1995, with a surface of 13.200 hectares and it belongs completely to the province of Perugia. Umbria has two provinces, Perugia and the other more southern Terni).

Il Piccolo Noce is very close to the Trasimeno Lake, the largest lake of the Italian peninsula. The lake is of similar size as Lake Como and represents a natural and economic resource for this area. You can practice different sports like windsurfing, canoeing, water-skiing, etc.

The 3 islands (Polvese, Maggiore and Minore) represents another attraction of the Trasimeno Lake. It is very nice to organize a boat trip to one of them and we can assure you that you will be impressed. The island called Minore is completely uninhabited.

There are many organizations safeguarding the heritage of the Lake, but we would like to mention in particular the "Oasi La Valle" managed by "L'Alzavola" which takes care of all the activities for guided tours and for scientific research). The Oasi offers the unique experience of getting to know the lake flora & fauna.

Unfortunately their website is only in Italian, therefore if you like to know

Like many Italian Regions, Umbria offers a huge number of food & wine products allowing the tourists to discover the traditional taste of the old times.

During the different seasons and in the different locations there are many events, exhibitions, and fairs, also on international level, highlighting the strong link with the products of the Region. It is worthwhile mentioning that Umbria exports all over the world its natural specialities such as olive oil, wine – red & white, truffles and the product of the so-called "norcineria", meaning the local ham, salsicce, salami, etc., not to mention the chocolate.
